Instant barley flakes are made of pearl barley, so the flakes are ready after cooking for only 1 to 2 minutes. Barley, similarly to oats, is a cereal rich in fibre, and has proven prophylaxis properties. Barley flakes contain elements important for the correct functioning of the body. They are a natural source of fibre, energy and vitamins, with dietary soluble fibre and beta-glucans that eliminate cholesterol from the body. They are also high in minerals, including potassium, sodium, phosphorus, magnesium and iron. May contain gluten.

To prepare barley flakes, bring a cup of water or milk to the boil. Slowly add about 3 tablespoons of the instant barley flakes to the boiling liquid. Continue to heat for 2 minutes, stirring from time to time. Add salt or water to taste. The flakes can also be used as an addition to various soups and broths.
